When designing permaculture systems with plants, its important to know a lot about the plants that grow in your region. Several resources have excellent tables of plant information, including Gaia’s Garden by Toby Hemenway, Edible Forest Gardens by Dave Jacke and Eric Toensmeier, and the Plants for a Future website. Although the tactile nature of working with tables in books nice, I prefer to use Excel’s sorting and filtering functionality when working on projects.

As I started the long process of compiling the data from these resources into Excel, I thought that someone else must have done this before, so you can imagine how excited I was to find Design Ecologique’s List of Permaculture Plants for Quebéc (http://designecologique.ca/liste-de-plantes-vivaces/). I have added to this list and will share updated versions here.
